It’s March! Spring is right around the corner, but not before we get through the month’s notoriously fickle weather. Luckily, we’ve got some cool titles coming out this month to pass the time.
Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Vol. 1
Original Title: かぐや様は告らせたい~天才たちの恋愛頭脳戦~
Author: Aka Akasaka
Date: March 6, 2018
Publisher: Viz Media
Buy: Amazon
From the publisher:
As leaders of their prestigious academy’s student council, Kaguya and Miyuki are the elite of the elite! But it’s lonely at the top… Luckily for them, they’ve fallen in love! There’s just one problem—they both have too much pride to admit it. And so begins the daily scheming to get the object of their affection to confess their romantic feelings first… Love is a war you win by losing.
Despite its marketing as a romcom, don’t expect Kaguya-sama to be a standard, cutesy little story. No, this series takes more cues from psychological thrillers than lovey-dovey fare. Originally published in Young Jump, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War highlights the over-the-top plotting between two genius high school students, all to simply get the other to confess. From the reviews I’ve seen online, expect battles of wits that give Death Note and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure a run for their money.
Devilman VS. Hades Vol. 1
Original Title: デビルマン対闇の帝王
Author: Go Nagai (story), Team Moon (art)
Date: March 13, 2018
Publisher: Seven Seas
Buy: Amazon
From the publisher:
With the world destroyed after the summoning of Devilman, his human host Akira Fudo finds himself a tenant of Hell. Seeking the soul of his lost love Miki, Akira comes between a man’s search for vengeance and earns the ire of Hades. To save Miki and survive life after death, Akira will need to let his true demon out as Devilman faces off against the Devil himself!
Whether you’re a long-time fan or a series newbie (hey, Crybaby!), here’s your chance to hop on the Devilman hype train. Devilman VS. Hades takes place after the original canon storyline ended, but with an unlikely twist: this series will draw from Go Nagai’s other work, Mazinger Z! I’m hoping whatever craziness goes down in this book will tide me over until the Devilman Classic Collection hardcover comes out in May.
ACCA 13-Territory Inspection Department Vol. 2
Original Title: ACCA 13区監察課
Author: Natsume Ono
Date: March 20, 2018
Publisher: Yen Press
Buy: Amazon
From the publisher:
Jean Otus, vice chairman of the ACCA government’s Inspection Department, is suspected of being complicit in plans for a coup d’etat. The government sends a special agent to keep an eye on Jean–someone close to home.
With her signature art style and layered storytelling strategy, Natsume Ono presents another exceptional seinen series, ACCA: 13 Territory Inspection Department.
In Volume 1, we were introduced to Jean, the aloof head of inspections at ACCA, a government agency in the fictional country of Dowa. Initially concerned with having his department shuttered, Jean quickly discovers he has bigger things to worry about; someone may be planning a coup d’état. No doubt, Volume 2 will shed more light on the precarious situation.
BONUS! Neko Atsume Kitty Collector: Where Am I Meow?

Yeah, it’s not manga, but I have a certain weakness for Neko Atsume goods, especially ones that feature Pepper, my dear, sweet angel. So of course I’m going to highlight this activity book (that’s probably aimed toward children, but whatever) on this list. Cute cats? I’m in. Learning fun facts? Sure. Stickers? I’m absolutely sold.
What are you looking forward to reading this month?
