Hey everyone! I wanted to make a quick post letting you know what’s been going on behind the scenes here at Hakutaku.
April was a big month for Hakutaku’s social media side. The Captain Harlock article got a sweet Twitter shout-out by Seven Seas Entertainment! I was absolutely blown away by the positive response and feedback, not to mention the new site visitors. To all new readers: welcome! I’m glad you’re here. And again, many thanks to Seven Seas for the exposure!
Aside from Twitter, Hakutaku now has an official presence on Pinterest and Instagram. Please feel free to follow me on the platform of your choice for more content and conversation! (´∀`)
Now, onto the not-so-fun stuff. As you may know, last month I attempted to tackle the 30 Day Manga Challenge. It didn’t end well. Actually, it didn’t end at all. With things ramping up at my full-time job, I wasn’t able to dedicate as much time as I’d like to writing posts for thirty days straight. So for now, the challenge is on an indefinite hiatus.
But all that time spent writing the daily posts wasn’t wasted. In fact, attempting the challenge gave me a clearer perspective on where I want this blog to go. As I drafted each post, I realized how much I missed doing research and analysis, things I thought I gave up a while ago when I finished college. So I’ve decided that going forward, I want to pivot away from reviews and instead focus on writing more long-form, informative content.
And I won’t be doing it alone! Starting next week, my friend Mel (@veneralian on Twitter) will begin guest blogging here. She’s a huge fan of classic manga, a talented Japanese translator, a published short-story author, and an all-around badass. Look out for her first post on Wednesday, May 9.
All in all, I’m in awe of how far Hakutaku has grown since January. This blog may be a hobby of mine, albeit a pretty complex one, but I’m really proud of what I’ve accomplished in a few months time. Thank you so much, dear readers, and get ready for some neat stuff coming soon!
