Today would have been the legendary Shotaro Ishinomori’s 81st birthday. Known for his groundbreaking contributions to Japanese media, Ishinomori was truly one of the best visionaries in manga, anime, and tokusatsu history, with works spanning across genres and platforms.
Although it’s been more than 20 years since his death, Ishinomori and his creations continue to impact people around the world, myself included. I don’t think I’d be the person I am today, had I not watched Cyborg 009 all those years ago. Thanks for inspiring us all to be our own heroes, Ishinomori-sensei.
