ようこそ。
Named after the all-knowing yōkai from Japanese folklore, Hakutaku aims to be a treasure trove of manga knowledge. Fans of manga both old and new, we’re happy to share our passion for the medium with readers around the world.
The Hakutaku Team

Alana
Editor & Writer
For nearly eighteen years, Alana has been an avid fan of Japanese visual culture, stemming from the days she watched Cyborg 009 after school. To fuel her reading habits, Alana works as a full-time digital content writer. If she’s not tracking down the latest retro manga releases, she’s probably chilling with her pet frogs.

Mel
Translator & Writer
Mel graduated with a BA in Japanese and minors in Writing and Women’s Studies. She’s currently an editor for a small publisher and translates niche Japanese novels in her free time. Her other interests include art history, particularly Baroque art, and drawing. Mel’s favorite frozen yogurt is chocolate with marshmallow sauce.
